As Mother's Day approaches, I want to take a moment and wish all mothers a very Happy Mother's Day! Being a mom is hard and messy. Being a mom means sacrificing so much of yourself and putting your kids above yourself. My journey of motherhood is not the same as yours. There are many types of moms that we need to celebrate: moms, step moms, adoptive moms, bereaved moms, fathers who act as both mom and dad, grandmoms, great-grandmoms. This is what I love about us moms: we are on different points of this journey but one thing we all have in common is, we love our kids so much.
Motherhood is not a competition. There are some moms who think motherhood is a competition to see who feeds their kids the best, who has the best dressed kids, and who can do the most projects off of Pinterest. Moms also judge moms by if you breastfeed or formula feed, by if you use cloth diapers or disposables, and by if you babywear or don't babywear.
All moms have different ways to mother their kids. Moms do what their motherly instinct thinks is best for their kids.
Mother's Day is a day to celebrate how hard us moms work, whether you work outside The home or you are a stay at home mom. Moms work equally hard. The day celebrates how hard it is for us to make the decisions listed above. The day is ultimately to celebrate how much we love our kids and do everything possible to make sure our kids are cared for and loved.
Wonderful post -- Happy Mother's Day and enjoy your sweet family. <3
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. I love how you narrowed down the one thing that binds us all together as moms: love for our children. Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post. I love that you say mothering is not a competition. So many things are viewed in a competitive way these days, it is sad.
ReplyDeleteI lost my mother several years ago and I still miss her every single day. Unfortunately, I didn't have children of my own.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to all of the Moms everywhere! Not only that, Happy Mother's Day to all of those who may not actually BE a Mom, but rather a surrogate Mom to those whose Mothers are missing for whatever reason (gone, deceased. etc) or simply incapable of providing quality mothering. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this! Being a mom is hard work but so satisfying. The best part of Mothers Day to me is being united together as women! It is such an accomplishment!
