Real and Raw

As a stay at home mom things are not always perfect. I have written how I am not perfect and the flow of our days are not perfect either. This post is about showing the real me behind these blog posts. The photo below is not filtered. It is raw and real. The picture displays what I always look like when I sit down and write whatever is on my heart to share. The picture shows my hair in a messy ponytail with spit up on my shirt. I am still in the shirt because I keep forgetting to change it because one of the boys need me for something. The picture shows me without makeup or jewelry. This picture is how my boys will remember me the most. One thing that is not different is that I am STILL smiling despite not looking my best.

I can smile because of the little smiles that I got all day from my 4 boys. They smile at me and told me they love me even though I look the way I look in the picture. What you don't see is that I may have cried at least once today. The house may be a mess with toys scattered. One thing you don't see but I see everyday are happy boys. They are happy because though we may have tough days I still smile and my smile makes everything better for them.

I used to think I had to look great everyday on the outside but as I've grown, I have learned I don't have to look a certain way on the outside. It is what is on the inside that counts. "Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control"(Galatians 5:22-23). God looks at our hearts not our faces, clothing, etc.

So this is the real me behind all of my posts. I hope I have inspired a reader through this post.

Always remember to have faith, hope, and a lot of love!

  1. Jessica, thank you for showing us the real you. We hardly get to see someone being real and natural on social media and I appreciate your heart to 'throw back the curtains'. You are beautiful, inside and out. I love your smile and I can see why your boys would be happy and smiling too! Keep loving them well as you're doing. You're doing a great job!
Wishing you an incredible day full of blessings.

  8. What a "real" post, that's great that you are comfortable showing us the real you. I don't think I could post a picture of myself like that. Your a super mom to have all boys and 4 of them at that. Being a stay at home mom is a tough job and you don't get a break. I hope you take time out for yourself, you deserve it. Thank you for the real post. :)
