Mother's Day Is Coming

It is May 1! I cannot believe it is May already. April went by so fast. We were busy during the month of April, maybe that is why I feel like it went so quickly. We have now been in our new house a month. We are definitely settled in and enjoying our new house. We have adjusted to a new schedule as well. These days we are just enjoying our time until Leliana arrives June 12! We are also counting down how many days are left of school for our Kindergartner: 14 days! We are excited about summer vacation coming.

May is my favorite month with June (our wedding anniversary is in June) tied with May. May is my favorite because my birthday is May 23 and Mother's Day is also in May. May is great because we do a lot of celebrating in May.

Now that it is May, that means Mother's Day is coming! As a mom, I know what all moms want: SLEEP! Am I right? Besides sleeps, we also want to be pampered (hair done, nails done, etc). We want money so we can go shopping, alone with no kids sticking their arms out of the cart. We want to be waited on hand and foot just one day a year. While I would love some alone time, to be pampered, or sleep, these days I really want to enjoy being with my family even on a day where I could have alone time, pampering, or extra sleep. I have friends who have grown kids that tell me to enjoy this time because these times will go by quickly. I am beginning to believe them when they tell me how fast time goes. My oldest has 14 days left of Kindergarten and then he will be in first grade! Yup, time does go fast.

I found out my husband has to work on Mother's Day. Many moms would be upset by this, and admittedly I was upset at first, but then I realized this will be great opportunity to enjoy another day with my boys and doing stuff for them. There will be a day when they won't want me to do stuff for them (cook, clean, etc.). There will be a day when I won't get to spend time with them on Mother's Day. I am going to make the most of my Mother's Day by being with my kids and enjoying this time with them.

Moms, Mother's Day is coming. I am sure you have a list of things you want. Is spending time with your kids one them?  A day is also coming when your kids will be grown and your house will be quiet. The alone time you may want or you may get, you will wish that you could have been spending it with your kids. The same people that tell me that time goes by quickly, have also told me that they wish their alone time was spent being with their kids instead. That sure changed my perspective and outlook while tugging at my heart to examine what I really wanted for Mother's Day.

  1. We've already had our Mother's Day in the UK, it was back in March. I love spoiling my mum all year round though. She's my best friend

  3. What a great post. I know as a mother it really doesn't matter what we do or what they get me it's all about spending time together. Any day we get to spend time together and share smiles and laughs is mother's day to me.

  8. Mother's Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and honor the mother or wife of a soldier and/or a service member mom. The reason we celebrate holidays like Father's Day and Mother's Day is to make our parents feel special.

  9. I love Mother's Day of course! But I love the fact that it's another excuse to bring my family together and celebrate - not just the kids, but my mum, my husband's mum etc..

  15. As a mom, I do not need gifts. Really. All I need is a day off. No housework, no worrying, no stress. Maybe a spa day, or a weekend at the beach. No fancy stuff. I just need to rejuvenate. Isn't this what most moms want?

  16. I'd really like to spend the day with my family (but not cooking or doing things for them). We think we'll do a picnic at the park this year. That being said .. a gift certificate for a spa day that I could use the next weekend would be a huge treat!

  21. It'd be so easy if it was one day for all countries.. I'm always confused when I read about Mother's Day and for a moment think 'omg, have I missed it' just to then realise that it's a different date in my country and I still have time to buy a present :)
