End Of The School Year

I mentioned in my last blog post that my son is nearing the end of the school year. He has two weeks left and then he will be a first grader! I have friends who are teachers and I know they are looking forward to the end of the school year. I have friends who are in college and are taking finals so they are stressed to the max. I have many friends who are parents and are also looking forward to the end of the school year. This time of year can be stressful. There are many schools that have state testing going on as well as final exams. There are a lot of end of the school year events like awards, dances, assemblies, etc. Kids are going crazy because they are ready to be outside instead of inside sitting at a desk/table. Getting kids to focus is probably a feat in of itself.

I just wanted to write this post to encourage parents, students, and teachers to keep up the great work! Teachers work so hard during the school year and even on breaks preparing what they need to teach. Teachers work hard every day and they even take their work home with them. Thank you teachers for all you do. Thank you for teaching kids what they need to know. Thank you for the time you take to work with each student and their family. Parents work hard at helping their kids with their homework, managing the school year schedule, making sure their kids are ready to learn every day. Thank you parents for being awesome and helping/supporting teachers to make a difference. Students work hard at learning what they need to do learn. Students work hard on their homework, quizzes, tests, papers, and other assignments. Thank you students for your willingness to learn and work. The work of everyone does not go unnoticed. The year is coming to a close so no matter how stressful it gets, keep persevering.

Every May there are new graduates whether from high school, college, etc. To those graduating, congratulations! May you also continue to persevere in your endeavors! I hope you will be blessed in whatever path you are on. If you know a graduate, be sure to wish them all the best and encourage them in their future.

With the end of the school year coming, many people are talking about their summer plans. Our summer plans involve me having our 5th baby on June 12. We aren't at the point to take vacations. We will get a lot of family time as well as time to relax and enjoy the warm weather. The picture below is the last time my husband and I were at the beach on our honeymoon in June 2009. I miss it and hope to take our kids to the beach. What are your summer plans? Do they involve a beach?

This is a picture from our honeymoon in June 2009. Last time my husband and I were at the beach.
Again, if you are a teacher (that includes parents who homeschool), a big thank you for all you do! Teacher appreciation week is May 8th-12th. Be sure to thank a teacher next week! Teachers are so very important!

Teachers are so important!

  1. OMG...I am a teacher and you are the best! I love this post and how you encourage love and appreciation towards teachers. I just wrote a few blog posts about surviving the final weeks of school and I have one coming about engaging students until the last day. I agree that it's a time time of year for parents, teachers and students. Parenting is hard, teaching is hard and I see how hard the students work too. It's a long day and the expectations are so high. Thanks for being such a supportive person. I will definitely be at the beach this summer. Check out my website and blog if your are interested. It's called For The Love of Teachers at www.fortheloveofteachers.com
    Thank you!

  2. Teaching and parenting are tough yet lovely. I am a father and a highschool teacher and value both my identities. Your post is a motivation for all teachers to continue our work.
    Best wishes.

  5. Congratulations to your little one. I am also a mom of a 4 year old girl and I am proud that she graduated with honor. Parents should also help in educating children not just the responsibility of a teacher. We should guide and support them on their education. Thank you for your wonderful post.

  11. Aw this is such a lovely post to read! My mum was a teacher so I know how hard she worked all year round. Your schools finish so early compared to ours in the UK. The end of the school year here is the end of July.
