School Is In Session

The 2016-2017 school year started yesterday. Yesterday was Logan's first day of Kindergarten and the first day of being in school every day all day until he graduates in 2029. I did better than expected, I didn't cry! Logan was excited about starting school. He came home and told me all about his day. He was definitely exhausted and as soon as he hit our couch, he was sound asleep. It is an adjustment, but he will get used to it and hopefully won't want to nap everyday after school. His brothers definitely missed him and were excited to get Logan off the bus. He was definitely ready to conquer day number two today.

Of course I still have Landon, Liam, and Lucas at home. Next week, Landon will start preschool two days a week, so on those days I will have my two babies, Liam and Lucas. It still seems like a dream that two of my boys are in school.

Now that school is in session, the three days that Landon will not be in school, I will be homeschooling him and working with him on what he needs to know. He is still two years away from starting Kindergarten. We started our homeschooling yesterday. We worked on the letters A and B and did two crafts. We made a paper plate apple and a construction paper backpack. Both crafts I found via Pinterest (you can follow me if you click the pinterest  button to the right of this post). Landon had fun painting a plate and it helps with sensory issues because there are a lot of textures involved with painting. He loved gluing/building a backpack. Today, he is going to color and decorate his backpack.

The way I will be working with Landon is similar to what a daycare did that I used to work for. I will pick a book to read every month and we will do crafts based on the book. I will also choose a few letters of the alphabet to do a month and we will do crafts based on those letters. I will do the same with numbers and shapes that I am doing with letters. Liam will also join Landon and I am going to do some two year old friendly lessons with him on the two days that Landon is at regular preschool.

The school year is off to a great start! So many memories will be made this year and I am excited for both Logan and Landon to learn and grow this year! I am also excited to see how Liam will grow as I homeschool him. It is going to be a great year and I hope to soak up every moment and help make the memories very special for all of my boys.

  3. Hello, I loved your post. It brought back memories of my kids starting school and how I used to enjoy crafting with them. I am not the creative types, so I generally get craft ideas off the Internet. If it is of any use, I always looked for craft ideas on one of these sites:

    http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/crafts

I'll keep coming back to read - thanks!
