We All Have Fears

Everyone is afraid of something. Some fears are bigger than others. Some fears are sillier than others. Some fears come because of something that happened in our pasts. Some fears come because other people are afraid so we think we need to be afraid too.

There is one thing we all can agree on is that everyone works everyday at overcoming their fears. Today, I overcame my fear of killing a big bug. I am not a bug person. I hate bugs. As a boy mom I am going to have to learn that bugs are fun, according to my five year old. Back to the bug, I am unsure of what kind of bug it was but it had a lot of legs. I got a shoe and closed my eyes and squashed it. I also squashed my fear of killing a bug.

There are worse fears than killing a bug or being afraid of bugs. Current fears in our world today are:

Death- we are afraid of dying of someone close to us dying.
War- there are so many wars going on and we are afraid of more world wars.
Jobs- our economy is not the best and we fear losing jobs or not being able to get a job.
Money- fear of not having enough money for our needs.
Relationships- we fear losing relationships or friendships. We fear not having friendships or anyone we can lean on.
The future- we fear the future especially who will lead our countries in the future.

Just like I squashed that bug, God squashes those fears. He tells us in the Bible over and over to fear not. God takes our fears into His hands so we are able to conquer them with His help. Satan is the one who tells us to be a coward not face our fears. We need to squash Satan just like a bug and listen when God says we can overcome our fears. Here are a few verses that encourage me not to give into my fears. I hope they help you the way they help me.
